What are CityVarsity's admission requirements?

All our courses require a Matric (Grade 12) Certificate (or equivalent) with a pass equivalent for the type of qualification wanting to be studied. You will also be required to undergo a written evaluation with your application. Some departments (listed below) have additional entry criteria.

You may have work experience, skills or competencies that directly relate to the qualification you wish to register for. With Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), what you have learnt and acquired can translate into subject credits. Contact CityVarsity to find out more.

have a South African Senior Certificate with a Matric Endorsement

OR

have a South African National Senior Certificate with at least four of these subjects with a rating of 4 (50-59%) or more:

Have I qualified to do an advanced diploma?

To qualify you will need to have completed a diploma at NQF level 6 in the specified area that includes a 120 credit Work Integrated Learning component.

I am a foreign student. What are the requirements to study at CityVarsity?

The same registration requirements for local applicants apply to foreign applicants. However, foreign applicants must submit copies of their passports instead of ID documents when enrolling. You will also need a valid study permit and SAQA verified qualifications.

For further information in this regard, please contact our student consultants at the campus of your choice. Alternatively, you can make an appointment to meet with a student consultant at that campus.

Does CityVarsity offer diplomas and degrees part time?

Unfortunately, we don’t at present. However, we offer a number of industry-recognised short courses with a similar focus to our degrees and diplomas.

How can I sign up for short courses?

How do I register at CityVarsity?

Our student consultant will guide you through CityVarsity’s registration process. The campus accepts walk-in registrations and online applications during registration periods.

Is CityVarsity accredited?

Yes. CityVarsity is registered with the Department of Education as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act 1997.

Does CityVarsity provide accommodation?

No. But, as our CityVarsity Cape Town and CityVarsity Johannesburg campuses are centrally located in these two major cities, student accommodation is easily available. You can contact our student consultant who will help you find a place to stay during your studies.
