Web Design (WordPress)
 

Delegates will learn how to get the most out of WordPress and create feature-rich blogs and web sites. They will learn how to find a web host, set up a domain, download, configure, and upload WordPress to a hosting account.

This short course covers all the WordPress tools required to create fully functional content management systems.Delegates will learn how to set up a user profile and create content to share with a web audience. The course also covers everything from adding images, video, links and content to posts and pages. 

Delegates will learn how to install plug-ins and themes, and make minor css modifications. They will also learn how to integrate social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. Search Engine Optimisation and collecting visitor information through Google Analytics will also be covered on this course

If you want to create a Web site and have complete control over where it's hosted, how it behaves, and how it looks, then WordPress is the perfect solution for you.

  • Utilizing page templates
  • Inserting images, video, and other media
  • Working with themes
  • Understanding widgets
  • Creating child themes
  • Working with the Twenty Eleven theme
  • Setting up a site for search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Ensuring site security

About the lecturer

Schalk Joubert finished his studies at AAA school of advertising in ‘99, during which time he worked closely with with CityVarsity on a few projects. He continued his career, working at Peronii New Media Solutions, Joe Public Advertising, and marketing manager for a wine company.

Schalk was first introduced to Wordpress in 2006, soon after it was launched. He used Wordpress for a few site he built on the fly. Realising not just the potential, but the ingenuity of Wordpress, he decided in to focus on webdesign and started a small webdesign house producing WordPress websites.
