MUSIC PRODUCTION (CUBASE SX) Background Arguably the most popular platform for modern music production, Cubase SX offers industry standard digital facilities for everyone from musicians, to arrangers, to DJs.SX’s solid basis in both MIDI and Digital Audio make it the program of choice in many of South Africa’s cutting-edge studios. Other features, such as its highly acclaimed plug-ins and Virtual Instruments, have ensured the success of the program in leading project and production studios around the world.While covering all the universal aspects of Digital Audio Workstations, such as recording and manipulation audio, and MIDI sequencing, this course is especially aimed at the Cubase user.Anyone, from the home-recording musician to the budding producer, would greatly benefit from this intensive training program. Entrance requirements Students must have a working knowledge of MS Windows.
Lecturers Adriaan Hellenberg has worked for ETV in their creative services department as well as Audio Lab in Johannesburg, one of South Africa’s finest recording fecilities. He completed his Advanced Diploma in Sound Recording Engineering at City Varsity in 2005. He is now back in Cape Town to pursue his career as a music producer while working at CityVarsity. Adriaan takes time out in his studio to write all kinds of music varying from trip hop to techno house, to psychedelic trance, to rock, to electronica, to hip hop.
Adriaan has been writing and producing music for 9 years and is capable of working fluently within Nuendo, Cubase, Reason, Protools, Wavelab, Soundforge and Cooledit Pro (to name a few). He can also play the guitar, piano, bass guitar, clarinet, and sing. Adriaan has been released on an Altered States Records compilation CD in 2005 and a Bomelakiesie Records CD in 2006 under the guise "ApsyDrop". He has also been released on a 2006 Mutha FM Records compilation CD under the guise "The Crackpot Realist". He is currently in a band called "Mondegreen" which is performing regularly in Cape Town.
Adriaan believes that the only way forward is to believe in yourself, harness and respect your creativity, and enjoy the journey with a smile.
