DESKTOP PUBLISHING
Background This comprehensive Desktop Publishing course covers the applications that are currently used by all sectors of the Advertising, Design and Publishing Industries. The course also covers the basics of typography, design and layout, reprographic, colour and scanning techniques. The students will create a complete Corporate Identity at the end of the course and leave with a comprehensive portfolio. This course can be broken down into separate modules.
Lecturer Moray Rhoda graduated in 1992 with a National Diploma in Graphic Design from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Moray also completed the Hirt & Carter Comprehensive DTP course, covering Photoshop, Freehand and QuarkXPress. Morays started his career at the Tholet Sievers and Associates ad agency, where he learnt the ropes for two years. In 1996 he joined National Publishing in Kenilworth, picking up some PICA awards along the way. While at National Publishing, Moray was invited to be on the advisory body of, and moderate for, the Cape Peninsula University of Technology Graphic Design department. In 1999 Moray joined Quantum Publishers and in 2004 joined Seeff Properties Atlantic Seaboard and Southern Suburbs to head up their in-house design studio. Moray was recruited by Media24 in October 2006 to head up their newly-created Mshana/Beatcomics studio, which sought to produce the best locally-produced entertainment comics magazine. His passion is design, and he feels compelled to pass this on to others through teaching.
