CAMERAWORK AND LIGHTING
Background The course is designed to give students a solid grounding in video and film camera theory and operation, and in lighting for video. This is a practically orientated course aimed at equipping the enthusiastic amateur, or the would-be pro with the basic theory and skills necessary to create a quality video product. Practical projects will be carried out under the supervision of the lecturer.
Lecturer Stephen Schmidt has been shooting film and video for over twenty years, the last fifteen of which have spanned a successful career in New York and Cape Town as cinematographer on commercials, music videos, documentaries and narrative films.

Who should attend? • Anyone with an interest in learning more about successfully recording images on video and film
Admission requirements • Proficient in English • Grade 12’s preferred
Job opportunities The course will provide valuable knowledge and skills to self produce work and improve suitability for industry entry-level positions.
