BodySpectra 2009
On 7 November 2009, CityVarsity Cape Town joined the Cape Quarter lifestyle centre's opening launch festivities by hosting it's annual Body Spectra extravaganza. Motion Picture Make-Up and Motion Picture Production Design students (ranging from 1st to 3rd years), were required to present their take on the evenings theme, Cape Trade Routes, which was further divided into 7 categories ('They Came with the Tides', 'African Myths', 'The Wild', 'South African Landscapes', 'Slave Trade', Fashion Influences' and 'A World In One Country'). Body Spectra serves as the students' final practical examination assessment in body painting and decorating. Prizes were generously provided by Sony (a digital video camera and a media player), Nu Metro (winner plus 100 friends invited to a pre-release screening), Musica (CD's), Hands Down Distributors (hair, make-up and beauty products) and even the lecturers pitched in to present the top 3 spots with special effects products. 3rd Year Alana Kotz (pictured above) won for her creation of 'African Mythology Warrior', modeled by her brother Jac. Leand Kleinhans' creation entitled 'From Sangoma to Gold' won second place while her colleague in second year, Nicole Fourie came in third with her 'Iron Maiden Metal Trade' design.
