Design students sweep all the prizes at a prestigious Menu Design Competition

Second year Multimedia Design students, Jaco Swart and Brad Briscoe won first and second prize respectively at the prestigious 2009 Printing Craftsman’s Association (PCA) Menu Concept Design Competition.

The competition tasks students from tertiary institutions that offer graphic design programmes to design a menu for the Print Guild Awards which acknowledges industry players in the South African print industry. The 2009 competition marks the third year in a row that CityVarsity’s Multimedia Design students have won all the awards at the competition.

According to the head of the department, Karl Fedderke, “The competition is a huge achievement for the students and it’s great to see the quality and creativity of the work being distributed by the youth today.”

Second year student, Brad Briscoe’s menu was commercially printed and used at the annual Gala Dinner at the award ceremony which took place at the Grandwest Casino.

Brad is also a finalist for the prestigious Nampak Gold Pack Awards with fellow Jo’burg student, Warren Aspelin (also second year Multimedia).
