Duration 2 year Diploma with optional 3rd year Advanced Diploma. Admission requirement A Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate or equivalent and a successful written evaluation with your application accompanied by a portfolio of artwork. Art as a subject is required.
This programme offers both the theory and practice of Multimedia communication, with a focus on the practical application of these skills in the workplace. Teamwork is encouraged and students learn to work in groups to complete their projects.
During the first year of the Multimedia Design course, students are given a strong foundation in the principles of design. The emphasis is on paper-based design training as well as design in a digital domain. Subjects throughout the year are • Creative design • Graphic design • Media studies • Computers & digital design
Each term focuses on a specific area including • Digital print design & production • The internet and basic web page design • Interactive presentations.
During the second year the emphasis shifts to computer design. The syllabus covers Graphic Design (including design principles and design history), Programming (including HTML and JavaScript) and Interactive Digital Design.
