Altschuler obtained her BAFA from Michaelis UCT with a Photography Major. She is currently the head of department of Photography at CityVarsity and studying for a Masters degree in Fine Arts a UCT.
Altschuler is also a member of committee of the SA Centre for Photography. She spent 18 years as a medical illustrator and clinical photographer for Red Cross Children’s Hospital, whilst teaching photography in her spare time at various Community Art Centres; the INTEC correspondence college and the SA Centre for photography.
She has curated photographic exhibitions and exhibited her own personal photographic work nationally and internationally over the past 25 years. She has worked on the 1st (1999) and 3rd (2005) Month of photography as co-coordinator, curator and exhibitor and has photographic artwork in the South African National Gallery’s permanent Collection as well as various other private Collections.
